half happy

Half Happy first glided into the Cardiff Music scene in 2022 with ‘Lovesweep’, a self-confessed love song for those who’d never thought they’d write one. Shortly followed by ‘Steal Me Away’ which shows off their happy, sweet edged sword songwriting, where you can either choose to laugh or cry. They immediately got the attention of BBC Introducing Adam Walton but after the release of their “song about a party not a party song” ‘Runaway Girl’, they bagged themselves Huw Stephen’s Artist of the Week and secured themselves a spot on Spotify’s ‘Hot New Bands’ Hall of Fame.

They sold out their debut show and headline slot in Clwb Ifor Bach and have since been gliding through the live circuit. The band cemented their friendship in university over mutual obsessions with Tame Impala, Foals and Radiohead, and followed bands such as Superfood and Wolf Alice from their conception. These 90’s babies mould these influences into something fresh which hooks new fans and loyal local followers alike.

Half Happy plays around confidently with fun day dream vocals that stick to tight indie drums that thump below guitar riffs that walk the line between heavy and heavenly. It’s a running joke that isn’t getting old yet, they are way more than Half Happy.

Adam Walton, BBC Radio Wales DJ, BBC Introducing:

"Your new favourite band." "It's delicious".

Huw Stephens, BBC Radio Wales and Radio 6 Music DJ:

"We want everyone to hear this because it is so good".

Bill Cummings, Editor of God is in the TV Zine:

"Self reflective, bittersweet and bloody glorious, Half Happy have captured my heart".
