peggy seeger

Peggy Seeger has been a folk pioneer in any number of ways. Along with her brothers Pete and Mike she helped revive interest in American folk music. Alongside her husband Ewan McColl she helped revive interest in British music. With McColl she recorded epic collections of traditional folksong and helped compose the great Radio Ballads. From the sixties onwards she became a pioneer of feminist folksong. She will be playing songs from her long career and talking about her new autobiography.

Am y tro cyntaf erioed yn Nhalacharn

Mae Peggy Seeger yn un o arloeswyr byd canu gwerin – mewn cymaint o ffyrdd. Rhyngddynt, bu hi a’i brodyr, Pete a Mike, yn gyfrifol am adfywio’r diddordeb yn nhraddodiadau canu gwerin America. Roedd ei chyfraniad hi a’i gŵr Ewan McColl yn allweddol i adfywio’r diddordeb yng ngherddoriaeth gwerin Prydain hefyd. Fe recordiodd Seeger a McColl gasgliadau hynod o ganeuon gwerin traddodiadol ac fe gyfranodd hi i waith cyfansoddi’r anfarwol Radio Ballads. Ers y chwedegau bu’n un o arloeswyr canu gwerin ffeministaidd. Yn Nhalacharn bydd yn chwarae caneuon o bob cyfnod o’i gyrfa ac yn trafod ei hunangofiant newydd.
